Images and Opinions of Aegopodium podagraria from GardenWeb Members| cziga - Zone 5: (Toronto) | Bishops Weed - variegated foliage | Groundcover. Sun/Part-Shade. Deep underground roots take over garden and kill neighboring plants. Good weed repellent and foliage plant for areas where nothing will grow or to cover large spaces (Not for garden use!). Almost impossible to contain or eradicate, it laughs at RoundUp. Green or Variegated leaf ("Snow on the Mountain"). Should come with BIG "Invasive" warning! | Ratings| overall | 1 | | how easy | 10 | | flower | n/a | | foliage | 9 | | propagate | 10 | | fragrance | 1 |

| roseboo - z5a PboONcan | Gout weed has always worked very well in my garden as I keep it under control by cutting all around it with the lawnmower. This year however, some of it shows rust around the edges of the leaves. | Ratings| overall | 8 | | how easy | 10 | | flower | 1 | | foliage | 8 | | propagate | 10 | | fragrance | 1 |

| anna_beth - z5-6 EU | Invasive. Grows wherever thrown on the ground with some soil around the roots and forgotten. Parts spreading underground break off easily so are difficult to remove. Very pretty in the spring in the variegated foliage border. Does become limp later in the summer. Flowerheads do not last long and need deadheading. Leaves do not keep as cut flower. | Ratings| overall | 8 | | how easy | 10 | | flower | 7 | | foliage | 10 | | propagate | 10 | | fragrance | n/a |

| BruMeta - z5aNY | Difficult to control | Partial shade. Soil more damp than moist and not too fertile. Very pretty groundcover for shady spots, A. p. is invasive, spreading by underground rhizome and by seed. Beware, and, by all means, deadhead! A. p. 'Variegatum' can revert to the solid green species, which is very difficult to eradicate. Both forms can smother other plants. | Ratings| overall | 5 | | how easy | 10 | | flower | 9 | | foliage | 10 | | propagate | 10 | | fragrance | n/a |

| sellnerj - z4MN | An excellent ground cover for areas under high tree canapes. Won't do well in dead shade- will tend to move itself to an area with more moderate shade. The only drawback is that it tends to die off or brown the edges of the leaves in August. I heard that you can cut it off and that it will grow back for the fall but have never tried that myself. we just live with ... | Ratings| overall | 8 | | how easy | 9 | | flower | 7 | | foliage | 10 | | propagate | 10 | | fragrance | 1 |

| Nora_in_Vancouver - 8b Wet Coast | August 8, 2002 (Alberta) | This grows anywhere -- where nothing else will grow. Spreads rapidly to form a lush 8-to-12 inch cover with no weeds. Interesting white flowers resemble allium or carrot flowers, about a foot taller than the leaves. Be sure you want this, because it is impossible to get rid of. The variety 'Varigatum' (shown) is sometimes called 'Snow on the Mountain'. | Ratings| overall | n/a | | how easy | 10 | | flower | 6 | | foliage | 8 | | propagate | n/a | | fragrance | n/a |
