| It all started from planting the crown of a grocery store pineapple. It flowered naturally & although the fruit was a little smaller, it was sweeter and less acidic than the original. In addition to having another crown to plant, it also grew one sucker and three ratoons for propagation. Soon, I'll have a plantation on my balcony! | Ratings| overall | 10 | | how easy | 10 | | flower | 10 | | foliage | 10 | | propagate | 10 | | fragrance | 10 |

| Nora_in_Vancouver - 8b Wet Coast | November 27, 2003 (Vancouver BC) | I have twisted the top off a very lovely pineapple. Next I pulled a few of the lower leaves off and found the beginnings of root buds, just as promised. Now I'll let the stump dry for a week, then try to get the roots to grow without letting it rot. | |

| Swamprose - | Bonnie's First Pineapple--beautiful-- | I'm not up to date on plant names but raised the most beautiful, and sweetest pineapple ever. Started potted in kitchen window about 8 months ago. Transplanted to gallon container placing it on East side yard, bringing inside during cold winter months. It grew with leaf spread of almost three feet. Returned to yard early spring where it flourished, blooming beautifull... | Ratings| overall | 10 | | how easy | 10 | | flower | 10 | | foliage | 10 | | propagate | n/a | | fragrance | 10 |

| MichaelaSC - North SC | This looks just like the plant we bought at Lowes in South Carolina, they could tell me nothing about them. I planted it in my backyard around the pool. The fruit is 3/4 size of a reg. pineapple but the color is still greenish and heavy. What do I need to do to so that my plant does not freeze or die? Thanks, MichaelaSC | |
| kdwnpdw - z8 Al | second stage | I started this plant from a pineapple I brought back from Maui 3 years ago. A tip I was given in Maui was, after you fill your pot with soil, cover with a plastic sheet, cut a slit in it and insert pineapple top then cover sheet with soil. This allows the plastic to "sweat" keeping the soil moist. | Ratings| overall | 9 | | how easy | 9 | | flower | 9 | | foliage | 9 | | propagate | 9 | | fragrance | 1 |

| Vroomp - z7Ga | Close-up of Pineapple Bloom | I found these easy to grow in Georgia although it did require over-wintering in my greenhouse for two seasons before producing fruit. Given enough sun they will produce a spiny flower with beautiful purple tips which later becomes the fruit. Mine took approximately 3 months to ripen. Pick when the fruit is golden yellow half way up. Delicious!!! | Ratings| overall | 8 | | how easy | 8 | | flower | 8 | | foliage | 9 | | propagate | 10 | | fragrance | 3 |

| caitzs - Seattle 7.5 | Mine started from supermarket fruit. I twisted off the top, removed leaves until I could see tiny roots and put it in potting soil. The outer leaves died, but new growth came out of the center and it looked fine in a few months. It tolerates underwatering, overwatering, sun, and shade - easy to care for! I don't expect it to produce fruit, but it's quite ornamental. | Ratings| overall | 10 | | how easy | 10 | | flower | n/a | | foliage | 10 | | propagate | 10 | | fragrance | n/a |
