This plant self seeds. Beautiful when in bloom. Deer dont bother it.

In early spring it bolts from the ground with an impressive early flower display. Very tough and easy to establish. Winter sow seeds. Seedlings transplant well. Seeds take all summer to ripen. Its glory is the shiny scarlet fall foliage.

Blooms for a long time. Foliage almost as nice as the flowers. Gets about 2 feet high. A good, but not terrific plant. Observed 3 hits by hummers in 2002.
