I have a Alcea rosea which is called a Queen's Eye. It is a beautiful flower and blooms late in the fall. I live in Pennsylvania which is a level 6 zone. This is the first year that I planted the Holloyhocks. They are very easy to grow and mine bloomed the fist year. I got a lot of seeds from my plant that I will trade for other Hollyhock seeds.

I grew this one (definitely a red, not purple) from seeds from a GW member who collected them from 'Queeny Purple.' Information about 'Queeny Purple' states it may be an annual. Blooms first year.

I love my hollyhocks. I planted Carnival mix and my flowers are pale apricot, light pink, and deep burgundy. Although the pack said they are doubles, mine look like the singles I've seen on this database.

Peach hollyhocks in August
These plants were given to me by a friend. I didn't really know what they would look like when I got them. I was so pleased with this light peach color. Just beautiful.

Great plant. Lends an old-fashioned look. Attracts butterflies and hummingbirds. Don't plant it if you don't like bees.
