We planted this in a rain garden. So far it has tolerated very dry periods as well as being in standing water when it rains.
A real show-stopper. The color is just amazing.
I grow Scarlet Hibiscus (a Florida native) in my pond where it does much better than it did when grown in the ground.
This plant was given to me by another Garden Web member. She pulled it up out of her garden and I brought it home and planted it. It did very well and the flowers are so pretty.
I just want to say I really like growing Hibiscus. Anyone ever grown the "Texas Star" variety?
Nobody concentrates on the leaf structure much so I thought I would post a picture of a leaf.
Texas Star is a show-stopper when planted as a group.
H. coccineus needs a good amount water hence one of its common names Swamp Hibiscus. It grows well in containers, just give it room and water.
