Salix integra 'Hakuro Nishiki'
Salix added for height/interest
I just planted this salix (pruned to tree form) to add some height to my front walk garden. I've always loved my best friends shrub and was elated to find it pruned like this and for only $26!!

Hakuro Nishiki is a beautiful willow in the landscape as a focal point or even as a screening shrub as it will grow to 6 feet or more. I cut mine back in the early spring and this seems to make it fuller and have more of the variegation because of the abundance of new growth. Have had this plant for at least 5 years in Zone 5.

Very fast growing as well as very colorful-greens, whites and as noted before, pink on the new growth-very attractive. Loves water and will suffer if not watered often and well-tips turn brown rather quickly. Still, a very nice shrub for the color and the graceful form.

When grown as a standard form, this becomes a small graceful tree with weeping branches. The stems and buds are salmon pink in spring; the mottled foliage can also show hints of pink.
